Managing Moisture Absorption & Dimensional Tolerances

Nylon (polyamide) delivers superior mechanical strength, sliding performance, and wear resistance. However, PA materials are inherently hygroscopic, drawing ambient moisture until reaching equilibrium. Moisture saturation causes measurable volumetric growth and softens the polymer matrix.

Engineering Note: Different PA grades, reinforcement additives (glass fiber, MOS₂), and ambient moisture levels dramatically affect final dimensions. We evaluate post-machining shrinkage and swelling during our DFM review.
